Valmorel ski resort guide

Valmorel ski information

Valmorel is an ideal family resort with a traffic free village centre and doorstep skiing from all areas. The ski area itself is a real intermediates' playground with 152km of wonderfully groomed pistes. Furthermore beginners benefit from the specially reserved beginners' ski area. Although the resort itself is purpose built, the village is designed in a traditional style with pretty wood clad buildings and is made up of several 'hameaux' or hamlets.

Skiing and snowboarding in Valmorel

Ski Information Beginners

Valmorel is an ideal resort for beginners with many English speaking instructors at the ski school and our superb value First Time packages. There are 15 acres of piste exclusively reserved for beginners in the ski school. Gentle, tree-lined runs leading back to the resort are perfect for building up confidence at the same time as enjoying spectacular mountain scenery.

Ski Information Intermediates

The Altispace 4-man chairlift will give you fast access to the skiing from the village. Excursions can be made across to the villages of St. François, Longchamp or Doucy for lunch and you can still make it back in time for a couple of red runs down the Gollet before the lifts close.

Ski Information Advanced

Often underrated by British skiers looking for more challenging terrain, Valmorel offers a number of testing black descents. These include the Riondet and the steep Mottet run with its hair-raising moguls to test your skills as soon as you get off the chairlift. For off-piste enthusiasts, there are literally miles of wonderful powder, to be skied for many days after fresh snowfall, with mind-blowing couloirs and steep faces to challenge even the professionals.

Ski Information Snowboarding

Valmorel offers some great piste riding and is a superb place for beginners to introduce themselves to the sport. The area has an abundance of mellow pistes. For freeriding head for the Mottet chair and the black runs. This is a great place to master basic techniques with plenty of off-piste powder to find. There is also a board park at the top of the Pierrafort cable car.
