Val Cenis ski information
Val Cenis is a charming ski resort comprised of two traditional villages, Lanslebourg and Lanslevillard. They both offer excellent value for money and a good range of skiing for all levels; from steeper runs at the top to picturesque tree lined runs snaking their way back down to the resorts. On returning from the slopes, the bars and restaurants offer a relaxed atmosphere, which compliments the architecture of these two pretty ski resorts. With a wealth of history, the atmosphere in these villages is warm and friendly with a quintessentially French alpine feel.
Skiing and snowboarding in Val Cenis
Ski Information Beginners
These charming villages have excellent nursery slopes, especially in the village of Lanslevillard. There is also an option to go higher up the mountain and explore some of the tree lined green runs, such as the one starting at the Col du Mont-Cenis.
Ski Information Intermediates
Val Cenis is idealy suited to intermediates and has a mixture of terrains. The lower half of the ski runs are mainly green and blue tree lined cruiser runs. Higher up the mountain the terrain becomes slightly more challenging with a good number of reds at the top.
Ski Information Advanced
Due to most of the runs being north facing Val Cenis has an excellent snow reliability record. There are a couple of black runs around the ski area and also some of the reds runs which are good for a challenge; advanced skiers should try the 400m vertical drop of the Michel Jacot run. For the experienced skier who enjoys the off piste there is a variety available; from open powder fields at the top to tighter tree lined runs at the bottom.
Ski Information Snowboarding
There are nursery slopes beside each village and plenty of confidence building runs. Intermediates will enjoy the more difficult blues and interesting reds above and below the tree-line. There are a few terrain parks in the area with jumps, boardercross track and a natural half-pipe being the main features.
