Tignes ski resort guide

Tignes ski information

Tignes is a high altitude resort offering great skiing and boarding for all levels as well as some of the best lift accessed off-piste areas in the world. We offer accommodation in Tignes Val Claret and Tignes Le Lac which are linked by a regular ski bus and both have easy access to the slopes. Val Claret, the highest part of the resort, has a number of shops, restaurants and bistros and is the starting point for the funicular leading up to the glacier. Tignes Le Lac has a twice weekly market, shops, bars, restaurants and a sports centre. There are slopes leading directly back to both resorts.

Beginners:

Tignes has a couple of excellent ski schools, good nursery slopes and some free lifts. Once basic skiing techniques have been mastered head to the Palafour lift in Le Lac or up the Tichot or Grattalu chairlifts.

Intermediates:

The variety is world-class and the good conditions are difficult to match. There is so much to cover here, it’s a challenge to do it in a season, let alone in a week. Ideal for those who want to build confidence and make progress in miles of great and varied snow-sure terrain.

Advanced:

This resort has an unrivalled reputation when it comes to advanced skiing and snowboarding. There is so much variety, you won’t want to stop for lunch. If you can ski the steepest moguls here, you can ski any moguls, anywhere. World-renowned for off-piste routes, served by the lift network, join one of the off-piste groups for an unforgettable experience.

Great for boarders, with lots of long, wide pistes for fast, carving turns. Advanced boarders are spoilt for choice at the huge snow park with jumps, a half-pipe and a free ride zone in Tignes. For beginners or intermediates with limited experience, the glacier is great for practice.
