Serre Chevalier ski resort guide

Serre Chevalier ski information

It's a little-known fact that Serre Chevalier is one of the largest ski areas in France, as well as one of the most picturesque. Over 250km of piste provides ample opportunities for all abilities and with 95 snow cannons added in recent years, it is relatively snow sure. The resort is spread across three villages, Chantemerle, Monêtier, Villeneuve and the historic town of Briançon all linked by ski runs, an efficient lift system and a regular bus service.

Skiing and snowboarding in Serre Chevalier

Ski Information Beginners

A safe choice for the complete beginner, with good nursery slopes in each village. There are some good confidence building runs, such as the Grande Alpe at the top of the gondola above Chantmerle.

Ski Information Intermediates

Ski through the Parc National des Ecrins in some of the most glorious scenery in the French Alps, including the long red runs from the Prorel, Aiguillet and Eduits. At Bachas above Monetier, you'll find a wide choice of runs which zig-zag through the trees and Le Petit Alpe, Bois des Coqs and Grande Gargouille above Monetier are firm favourites for getting the adrenalin going. To end a day, Cucumelle is a fantastic long run back to Villeneuve from Bachas.

Ski Information Advanced

A good number of black runs and off-piste are found throughout the ski area. Serre Chevalier is also home to the renowned Luc Alphand 'Olympic Black Run'.

Ski Information Snowboarding

Recently discovered by boarders who revel in the cruising slopes ideal for wide carving turns. Good for experts as fabulous off-piste and the potential for powder. Half-pipe and board park.
