Zell am Ziller ski resort guide

Zell am Ziller ski information

Zell am Ziller is a small, picturesque town in the heart of the Ziller Valley, approx. 10km from Mayrhofen. Though smaller and quieter than its more famous neighbour, you'll find everything you need from a selection of bars and restaurants to a range of activities including night skiing, curling, sleigh rides and swimming. From the piste map you'll see why it is a popular resort in its own right - 160km of piste to keep you entertained!

Ski Information Beginners

Patient instructors and gentle nursery slopes will ensure you get the most out of your first ski trip.

Ski Information Intermediates

The Ziller Valley is an intermediate's paradise with over 625km of piste stretching from the high altitude of the Hintertux Glacier to the large network of pistes at Hochzillertal/Hochfügen. All areas are linked by public transport - either ski buses or the valley's train line.

Ski Information Advanced

There are tricky routes down the Penken Mountains to Schwendau and through the trees from the Ahorn (now served by the vast new Ahorn cable car from Mayrhofen). The Horberg ski area also offers a number of exciting long runs like the challenging Schafskopf mogul run. Don't miss a run down "Harakiri" - the steepest pisted black in Austria.

Ski Information Snowboarding

Zell am Ziller offers a terrain park and half pipe. Throughout the area you'll find many broad carving pistes and some fantastic off-piste, great on powder days. Head to Mayrhofen for the hugely publicised Burton fun park, crammed full of features, boarder cross and quarter and half pipes.
