Kaprun ski resort guide

Kaprun ski information

Kaprun is one of our most popular resorts. Set at the foot of the breathtaking Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, it offers an excellent range of pistes, including high altitude pistes with guaranteed snow, with the lift pass covering the Kaprun areas and Zell am See too (connected by regular ski bus). The 'Optimum' Sports Centre is the pride of the village, with its fantastic facilities. Combined with a wide variety of bars and restaurants, Kaprun has lots to offer - on and off the piste.

Skiing and snowboarding in Kaprun

Ski Information Beginners

Gentle nursery slopes are found beside the village centre, on the Lechnerberg. With excellent instruction from the Kaprun ski school, as confidence is gained, beginners can progress on to the numerous easy runs of the Maiskogel and the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier.

Ski Information Intermediates

The range of skiing in and around Kaprun is truly incredible. Over 130kms of pistes and 58 lifts are available in the fantastic Kaprun/Zell am See Europa Sportregion (FREE ski bus).

Ski Information Advanced

Accomplished skiers will relish the contrast of wide-open pistes and superb powder of the glacier bowl. There are seven exciting black runs throughout the region, some with vicious moguls. There are especially challenging and exhilarating pistes on Zell am See's Schmittenhöhe Mountain and the Maiskogel has some great off piste on powder days.

Ski Information Snowboarding

Kaprun has always been thought of as one of the best places to snowboard in Europe. In recent years, the resort has played host to the annual 'Snowboard UK' board test, due to the resort's great attitude towards snowboarding and its varied terrain. The Maiskogel area has increased their offering for boarders with some new rails and kickers and the Kitzsteinhorn now has a new 150m long superpipe with 5m high walls.
