Bad Hofgastein ski resort guide

Bad Hofgastein ski information

The extensive Gasteinertal ski area is one of the largest in Austria. The attractive town of Bad Hofgastein has a bustling centre and excellent amenities, not to mention the famous spas (see 'Ski & Spa'). Bad Hofgastein is a relatively quiet resort with cobbled streets and a relaxed approach to après ski. The skiing and boarding is superb - you need almost never take the same piste twice in a week, and if you head off-piste with a guide the area almost doubles again!

Skiing and snowboarding in Bad Hofgastein

Ski Information Beginners

The gentle nursery slopes at Angertal provide an ideal introduction for beginners staying in Bad Hofgastein. From the nursery slopes beginners can progress on to blue runs on the Schlossalm or Stubnerkogel.

Ski Information Intermediates

This is ski-your-heart-out country! Bad Hofgastein offers a wide variety of red and blue runs, linked together with nearby Bad Gastein to make one large area. The Gastein valley has a further 3 ski areas, offering total of 250kms of well groomed, often quiet, pistes. Buses and trains link the areas, and are covered by your lift pass.

Ski Information Advanced

There are also some testing runs on the Stubnerkogel and a couple of nice blacks on the Graukogel. The off-piste can be fantastic too - why not hire a guide and head to the spectacular off-piste route from Kreuzkogel to Heilstollen, or sign up for an off-piste safari or touring day with the ski school.

Ski Information Snowboarding

This resort forms part of one of Austria's largest rideable areas with over 100 miles of piste. For freestylers there is a well maintained half-pipe and snowboard park to keep you happy and plenty of natural hits around.
